Man Charged With Burglary In Greenwich: Police

Police said they arrested a man on Oct. 4 wanted in connection with a burglary that occurred in May 2021.

GREENWICH, CT — A 47-year-old Stamford man was arrested on Oct. 4 on a warrant stemming from a burglary that occurred in Greenwich in May 2021, according to the Greenwich Police Department.

Edgar Martinez was charged with third-degree burglary and fifth-degree larceny, and was given a $25,000 bond which he could not post. Martinez is schedule dot appear in court on Oct. 19, his arrest report said.

Lt. Martin O'Reilly of the GPD said on May 2, 2021, at approximately 3:15 a.m., an officer was on patrol on West Putnam Avenue when he saw what he believed was a flashlight inside a business.

When the officer stopped to investigate, he discovered that a deli and bridal shop were burglarized, O'Reilly said, noting that a small amount of cash between $50 to $100 was taken.

"Physical evidence at the scene later lead to the arrest," O'Reilly said.

Martinez was arrested in the 30 block of High Street in Greenwich.
