GREENWICH, CT — A 20-year-old New York City man was extradited from Rikers Island back to Greenwich on Oct. 27 where he was charged in connection with an attempted robbery that occurred outside of the Apple Store on Greenwich Avenue this past summer, according to police.

Geraldo Morales, of the Bronx, N.Y., was charged with third-degree assault, criminal impersonation and multiple attempted larceny and robbery charges, his arrest report shows.

The men tried to forcibly take the items, and the woman, along with a family member that was with her, fought back, police said, noting that no weapons were displayed during the confrontation.

A good Samaritan came to their aid and also tried to fend off the men, who eventually gave up and were last seen running south on Greenwich Avenue before getting into a silver sedan on Grigg Street, according to police.

The woman who made the purchases suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment, police said.

A 16-second clip showing the attempted robbery was posted to Twitter the following day. The video shows a man and a woman struggling with another man in a pink-hooded sweatshirt on the sidewalk.

The video appears to be recorded by onlookers from inside a nearby restaurant.

Morales was unable to post a $100,000 bond, police said. He's scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Nov. 10.
