Man Charged In Connection With Theft Of Chanel Handbags: Greenwich PD
Police said four people entered a Greenwich store in June and stole more than $80,000 worth of Chanel handbags.

GREENWICH, CT — A 34-year-old man was charged Wednesday in connection with a June shoplifting incident in which four people stole thousands of dollars worth of Chanel handbags from a downtown Greenwich store, according to police.
Greenwich police officers responded to the Westchester County Jail on Sept. 27 and took custody of Shaborn Smith, of Ossining, N.Y.
Smith was charged with organized retail theft of $10,000 or greater and conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, his arrest report states.

On June 19, four people entered a store on Greenwich Avenue and went directly to a section that featured Chanel handbags, Lt. Ted Latiak of the Greenwich Police Department said.
The four suspects grabbed more than $80,000 worth of handbags and left, Latiak said.

Through an extensive investigation with other law enforcement agencies, Smith was identified as one of the suspects, Latiak said, and an arrest warrant was approved.
This was the first arrest warrant sought in the case and an investigation remains ongoing, Latiak added.
Smith was unable to post a $150,000 bond. He's scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Oct. 11.
