Man Charged With Identity Theft, Forgery: Greenwich Police

A 36-year-old man faces several charges after he was arrested on Nov. 10 in Greenwich, police said

GREENWICH, CT — A New York City man was arrested on Nov. 10 after police said he tried to fraudulently open up a store credit at a business in downtown Greenwich.

Dejesus Joquin, 36, was charged with second-degree forgery; third-degree forgery; third-degree identity theft; criminal impersonation; criminal attempt/receipt from the illegal use of a credit card; and criminal attempt at fifth-degree larceny, police said in an arrest report.

Joquin was unable to post a $75,000 bond.

On Nov. 10 at approximately 2:15 p.m., officers were notified about a suspicious car parked within a central Greenwich parking lot, according to an arrest report.

Bike patrol officers and plainclothes officers responded, conducted surveillance and identified a man in the car as Joquin, and he was detained, police said.

Police said Joquin went into a local business on East Elm Street and presented a fraudulent Pennsylvania license and a Master Card in someone else's name to open up a store credit.

Police found that Joquin had a fully extraditable arrest warrant out of Georgia for similar crimes.

Joquin is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Nov. 23.
