GREENWICH, CT — A 35-year-old New York man was found sleeping in a Greenwich apartment over the weekend, and police say he admitted to breaking in "to seek shelter from the rain."

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on April 11, Greenwich police officers responded to an apartment in the Byram section of town on a report of an unknown man who was found sleeping on a couch "without permission," police said in an announcement.

"The resident attempted to stop the individual from leaving, but the suspect fled through a window toward Mill Street," police said. "Patrol officers located and detained a suspect nearby matching the given description of the subject provided by the resident."
