GREENWICH, CT — The skeletal remains of Peter Robinson, who Greenwich police said was about 50 years old at the time of his death, have been identified as the bones that were found in Helen Binney Kitchel Natural Park in April 2017, according to Greenwich Police Capt. Robert Berry.

Robinson's remains were discovered by Greenwich town workers within a stream inside the park, adjacent to Laddins Rock Road, in Old Greenwich. Berry said that Robinson was last known to be homeless and living in the Stamford area.

"The cause of Mr Robinson's death is undetermined at this time," Berry stated, adding that his next of kin has been notified. "Greenwich Police continue to investigate the circumstances of his death and are seeking information from the public."

Over the course of several days in late April and into the summer of 2017, Greenwich police and members of other law enforcement agencies searched the entire park and the stream, up to where it crosses the I-95 interstate and down to and including Binney Park pond.

On multiple visits and searches, police were able to gather human bones that were determined to be from a single person.

The remains were transported to the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for analysis and identification, and it was through that testing that Robinson's identity was discovered.

"The initial assessment was that the remains were from someone who had died in 2015 or 2016," according to Berry. "DNA samples from the remains were eventually collected and subsequently tested by the State of Connecticut Crime Lab. Results from this DNA test identified the remains as those of Peter Robinson."

Robinson was about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighed about 175 pounds.
