Meet Greenwich Police Department's 3 New Officers

The three, who will enter the state's police academy at the end of the week, were sworn in on Monday.

GREENWICH, CT — Three new officers were hired by the Greenwich Police Department this week during a ceremony in Town Hall before friends and members of their respective families, and police and town officials.

The three - Sabrina Diaz, Thomas Koppelmann and Vladimir Souffrant - are scheduled to attend the state's police academy in Meriden beginning at the end of the week. There they will spend about 14 weeks in training before returning to the department to begin their probationary officer duties, which lasts several more months.

"To get to this point, takes well over a year and is a very competitive process," Greenwich Police Chief James Heavey told the new officers during the ceremony on Monday, which was administered by Greenwich Selectman John Toner. "You've accomplished a lot, and we hope you accomplish more with this department."
