UPDATE: METRO-NORTH TRAIN ALERT: Train Service Back on Schedule; Suspicious Package Caused New Haven Line Delays Earlier

Commuters and holiday travelers can expect lengthy delays Friday morning; Plus: your holiday getaway train schedule.

Update: 10:40 a.m. New Haven Line Service is now operating on or close to schedule. “We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced,” Metro-North wrote on social media.

Update: 10:30 a.m.: Inbound New Haven and Harlem Line trains are operating with 10 to 15 minute delays due to train congestion caused by earlier police activity in Grand Central Terminal. Hudson Line trains are operating on or close to schedule.

Metro-North inbound service to Grand Central Terminal is currently experiencing delays of 20 to 30 minutes. Outbound service from Grand Central terminal has delays of 10 to 15 minutes. Delays are due to Police Department Activity in Grand Central Terminal. Please listen for announcements at your station.

Metro-North Railroad reported at 9 a.m. that customers should anticipate delays of 20 to 30 minutes traveling into and out of Grand Central Terminal due to Police Department Activity.

On the New Haven Line extra “getaway” trains will depart from Grand Central at:

  • 12:58 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Westport, and all stations between Fairfield and New Haven.
  • 2:01 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Westport, and all stations between Fairfield and New Haven.
  • 2:28 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Westport, and all stations between Fairfield and New Haven.
  • 2:31 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, New Rochelle, Larchmont, Mamaroneck and Harrison.
  • 2:56 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Stamford then all stations between Noroton Heights and South Norwalk.
  • 2:59 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, New Rochelle, Larchmont, Mamaroneck and Harrison.
  • 3:26 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, then all stations between New Rochelle and Harrison.
  • 3:29 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Westport and all stations between Fairfield and New Haven.
  • 4:00 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street, Stamford, and all stations between Bridgeport and New Haven.

The following trains from Grand Central will not operate or are combined:

  • The 5:18 PM to Harrison and the 5:21 PM to New Rochelle are combined, departing Grand Central at 5:21 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street and all stations between Mount Vernon East and Harrison.
  • The 5:41 PM to New Haven will not operate.
  • The 5:57 PM to Harrison and 6:02 PM to New Rochelle are combined, departing Grand Central at 6:02 PM, making all stops between Mount Vernon East and Harrison.
  • The 6:07 PM to New Haven and the 6:11 PM to Bridgeport are combined, departing Grand Central at 6:11 PM, stopping at Harlem-125th Street and all stations between South Norwalk and New Haven.
  • The 6:49 PM to New Haven will not operate.
  • The 7:09 PM to Harrison will not operate.

On Saturday, May 23 & Sunday, May 24: A regular Weekend Schedule will be in effect.

On Monday, May 25, Memorial Day: A Sunday Schedule will be in effect.

Grand Central North will be closed.

Please note also that most connecting services will not operate on Memorial Day (Monday, May 25). However, the Tappan Zee Express will operate on a Saturday schedule.
