Mike's Organic To Open Retail Location In Greenwich
The space will serve as the brand's flagship store and a hub for the community to learn about food.

GREENWICH, CT — Mike's Organic, Connecticut's premier farm-to-home delivery service, recently announced the launch of a retail location at 600 E. Putnam Ave. in Cos Cob at the site of the former Patio.com space. The market is expected to open in early 2022.
According to a news release, the space will serve as the company's flagship store and a hub for the community to learn about food.
The connection to where food comes from and how it's sourced is a core pillar for owner Mike Geller.

Geller said in June when his prepared food line launched that connection and transparency are two words that are vital to the business.
"A connection to the person that grew your food, and then transparency in terms of what's on it, what's in it, when was it picked, what was the chicken eating. We have access to all that information. We can tell the story of the farmer unlike pretty much anyone in this area can, because of our closeness with farmers," Geller said.

The market will be an experiential destination as well, with a rotating lineup of food-forward programming. According to a news release, guests will have the opportunity to meet local farmers and purveyors as they partake in interactive events and activities both inside the space and outdoors on the patio.
A series of cooking classes will cover a variety of topics, from a grilling course to a kids bake-off to a low-waste cooking class to learn how to make food from kitchen scraps. Additionally, Mike’s Organic will host a variety of experiences in partnership with local brands, from a dumpling-deep-dive with Norwalk’s Nit Noi Provisions to a make-your-own-pizza pop-up with the owner/tomato farmer of Litchfield County’s Waldingfield Farm.
In 2009, Geller, a lifelong Greenwich resident, launched the business as one of the first farm-to-home delivery services in America. What began as a Community Supported Agriculture delivery business grew into an online farmers market servicing Fairfield and Westchester Counties. In 2019, Mike’s Organic opened a storefront out of its delivery headquarters in Stamford.
"We’re grateful for the opportunity we’ve had the last 12 years to support so many farmers and artisans, and we’re excited to build on that foundation to create a signature experience in Greenwich that changes the way people shop and connect with their food," Geller said in a news release. "Our mission with the new space is to serve as a gathering place where the community can interact with the people who grow, raise, catch and make our food. When you know where your food comes from, the way you look at it will forever change."
