GREENWICH, CT — More nighttime construction is being planned for Greenwich Avenue, and this time it's for Eversource to improve and install electrical vaults at three locations.

Andrew Vento from AJ Penna Construction went before the Board of Selectmen last week to request nighttime closures so the work can be completed. Vento said there would be "intermittent closures" over the course of the project, which is expected to last from late spring through August.

According to documents associated with the request, the locations for the work are listed as 86 Greenwich Ave., the intersection of Greenwich Avenue and Lewis Street, and the intersection of Greenwich Avenue and Arch Street.

Vento noted that work would not take place on a nightly, consistent basis.

"We'd mobilize to one location, install one structure, one vault, and there may be a gap in between from when we go to the next location. The next location, we might be there for a week or two," he said.

First Selectman Fred Camillo mentioned current ongoing work on Greenwich Avenue and an agreement with a private property owner for construction crews to store equipment nearby.

Camillo said there were concerns from residents about late night noise from moving the equipment, and he asked Vento if there were similar plans for the proposed work with Eversource.

"I know there's no good time to do this, there's no perfect solution. I think we owe it to the residents to fnd spots where it's just not going to be keeping them up at night," Camillo added.

Vento said he didn't anticipate using a storage yard adjacent to a work site.

"Anything we do bring onto the site we will bring from our facility from our headquarters in New Canaan on a nightly basis, whether it's heavy equipment, any concrete structures or vaults," Vento said.

Selectperson Janet Stone McGuigan suggested that Vento return to the board with monthly status updates on the project as more feedback from residents comes in, similar to what Aquarion Water Company is doing with their ongoing work on the Avenue. Camillo expressed support for the idea.

"Can you circle back with us every month just to let us now how it's going?" Camillo said. "Questions are going to come. We know the work has to be done, we support it getting done, it needs to be done, it will get done. But anything we can do to mitigate the disruptions would be helpful."

The board is expected to discuss the project further during its April 25 meeting.
