Musical Acts Announced For Greenwich Town Party

GREENWICH, CT — After a challenging year, it's time to party.

Greenwich Town Party (GTP) officials announced the musical acts for the 10th anniversary celebration, which will take place on Sept. 5 at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park.

Headlining the much-anticipated event will be the legendary Eagles and the dynamic Zac Brown Band, both Grammy Award winners.

GTP fan favorites, the legendary New Orleans-based Preservation Hall Jazz Band, will also take the stage with their high-octane brand of funk, along with celebrated pop-country singer/songwriter Caroline Jones.

"We need a party!" said Ray Rivers, GTP Co-President, in a news release. "The steadfast tenets of the GTP — participation, celebration and community — could not be any more important than they are today. We look forward to being back together with all of our friends and neighbors, rocking out to the music we love, and celebrating the final days of summer in our beautiful town."

Previous musical icons who have headlined GTP include: Eric Clapton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Paul Simon, Buddy Guy, James Taylor, Carlos Santana, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Hall & Oates.

COVID-19 Guidelines & Protocols

According to a news release, GTP organizers are working closely with Town of Greenwich and State of Connecticut officials to follow the appropriate guidelines and regulations to ensure safe protocols and an enjoyable experience for all partygoers. The GTP was canceled in 2020.

To ensure the health and safety of all participants, all ticket holders, performers, staff and volunteers will need to provide proof of one of the following: COVID-19 vaccination, proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the event, or proof of a negative COVID-19 rapid Antigen test taken on the date of the event to gain access to GTP 2021.

GTP has contracted with CLEARED4, and through their HIPAA-compliant website, CLEARED4 will ensure that everyone entering the park is vaccinated or has a negative COVID test result.

CLEARED4 is the largest health validation platform used for assurance of safe COVID-19 health, and enables its clients/users to return safely to businesses, schools and stadiums, including Yankee Stadium. CLEARED4 is not permitted to share a user’s identity or personal health information with any third party, including GTP, due to patient confidentiality.

Attendees will be required to upload their COVID-19 vaccination card, negative PCR or Antigen test to the CLEARED4 secure web-based platform. Once completed, individuals will receive an email confirming that results have been received and they have approval to enter the event, with GTP GO Clearance. Additional details and instructions will be emailed to all ticket holders and posted on the GTP website in the coming weeks.

Ticket Information

Greenwich Town Party tickets may only be purchased by those who live or work in Greenwich. Those who were able to get tickets from a lottery system last year will be able to use those tickets in September.

There are a limited number of Neighbor and Sponsor level tickets on sale now. Neighbor tickets provide access to Houlihan Lawrence Neighborhood Area with wine, beer and catered food, as well as designated parking. These tickets can be purchased here.

GTP Sponsor contributions support 80 percent of the party and allow those who may not otherwise be able to attend get significantly discounted tickets and fund the sustainability of the event. The sponsor commitment for corporations and individuals offers unlimited access to the Sponsor Tent with catered food and beverages throughout the day and evening, and premier parking.

The Bands

Eagles

Made up of Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit, with Deacon Frey and Vince Gill. One of the most influential and commercially successful American rock bands of all time. With profound lyrics, soaring harmonies, and country-tinged melodies, they created a signature Southern California sound.

The Eagles have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, have scored six No. 1 albums, have topped the singles charts five times, and have been awarded six Grammy Awards. The band has performed sold-out concert tours worldwide throughout their career, including their current "Hotel California" tour. The Eagles were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 in their first year of eligibility and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016.

Zac Brown Band

The band is a multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning, Southern rock group led by front man Zac Brown. Throughout their career spanning more than a decade, Zac Brown Band has had six consecutive albums reach the top 10 of the Billboard 200 and five consecutive albums debut at No. 1 on Billboard's Country Albums chart.

To date, the group has won three Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist in 2010, sold more than 30 million singles, nine million albums, amassed over nine billion catalog streams to date, achieved 15 #1 radio singles and are the second act to top both the Country and Active Rock formats. Zac Brown Band has headlined seven North American Tours and currently holds the record for most consecutive sold-out shows at the iconic Fenway Park. Since their debut, Zac Brown Band has developed a reputation with critics and fans alike as one of the most dynamic live performers, marked by strong musicianship that defies genre boundaries.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band

New Orleans has long been the intersection of where sounds and cultures from around the world converge. Nowhere is that idea more vividly embodied than in the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, which has held the torch of New Orleans music aloft for more than 50 years, all the while carrying it enthusiastically forward as a reminder that the history they were founded to preserve is a vibrantly living history.

“A Tuba to Cuba,” the soundtrack to the critically acclaimed documentary film chronicling band leader Ben Jaffe and Preservation Hall Jazz Band's pilgrimage to Cuba, shares the true power and ability of music to cross over the language barrier and connect people through rhythms that run through everyone. Inspired by Jaffe’s late father’s dream of retracing the cultural and musical heritage that would give birth to New Orleans jazz, “A Tuba to Cuba” fills the screen with energy, elation, and inspiration, reminding us that everyone has a story to tell or a musical style to lay claim to, and a tradition to illuminate.

Caroline Jones

Declared one of Rolling Stone’s “10 Country Artists You Need to Know” as “an ambitious, entrepreneurial guitar heroine primed to bring back the pop-country glory of the Nineties,” singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Caroline Jones co-produced her new lead single “Come In (But Don’t Make Yourself Comfortable)” off her forthcoming sophomore studio album with Grammy and Academy Award-winning producer Ric Wake.

The talented independent artist also wrote the lyrics to the single, similar to her previous releases with the exception of “All of the Boys,” co-written with Zac Brown, and “Gulf Coast Girl,” written for her by Jimmy Buffett and Mac McAnally. In 2020, Caroline toured with country stars Sara Evans and Lee Brice, made her return to the legendary Grand Ole Opry stage, and appeared in a moving virtual concert as part of Global Citizen and the World Health Organization's "Together At Home" Series.

Local Bands

A popular tradition of the GTP is the Town Stage, which will feature six local bands to round out the day’s performances. Created to celebrate the diverse and abundant talent within the Greenwich community, the Town Stage band application was open to Greenwich residents of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels. Submissions are now closed. The local artists lineup will be announced later in July.
