Mysterious Loud Boom Heard, Rumble Felt Across Greenwich

A loud sound accompanied with tremors were felt around Greenwich Thursday afternoon.

GREENWICH, CT — A mysterious loud boom was heard across Greenwich this afternoon, and the cause is currently unknown.

On social media, residents reported hearing the loud noise around 1 p.m. from Stamford to the backcountry of Greenwich and even down to Port Chester. One woman said her house in Glenville shook; another resident in Old Greenwich said they went outside to see if something had fallen on their house.

Greenwich Police said they don't know what the cause was. First Selectman Fred Camillo also said he didn't know what happened.
