2,500 CT Residents Without Power As Severe Storms Cause Damage
Numerous roads are closed throughout the region due to fallen trees and power lines across Connecticut.

CONNECTICUT — As of Monday morning, Eversource is reporting that 2,157 customers are still without power as severe storms rolled through parts of Connecticut on Sunday, especially in Fairfield County where numerous trees and power lines fell.
A tree fell on I-95 between exits 13, 14, Sherwood Park remains closed due to damage there, a man was killed after a tree fell on his car in Fairfield, and a tree fell on homes in Westport.
As of Monday there are still hundreds of customers without power in Norwalk, Stamford, New Canaan, , Fairfield, and Westport.

The weather should be calm this week for the most part with lots of sunshine.
CONNECTICUT — Beginning late Sunday morning it has been a wild, wild weather day in Connecticut. It began with news that Sherwood Park in Westport was closed due to damage incurred during Saturday's storm.

Two lanes of Interstate 95 were closed for three hours between exits 13 and 14 in Darien/Norwalk due to a tree that fell down. The tree fell at 2:25 p.m. and it was cleared around 6 p.m.
Around 11 a.m. the first of a series of severe thunderstorms moved through the state, sparing no county in Connecticut. Warnings at some time or another have been issued for the entire state.
Eversource is reporting 12,000 power outages as of 7 p.m. including, 1,051 in Darien, New Canaan, 414, Norwalk, 3,113, Weston, 1,140, Stamford, 2,020, Ridgefield, 238, Wilton, 364, and 2,142 in Westport.
United Illuminating Co. is reporting 3,835 outages as of 7 p.m. with the bulk coming from Fairfield with 3,336 and 248 in Easton.
UI reporting 22% of Fairfield is currently without power after this afternoons storm. Numerous trees and wires are down. Be careful out there.

Storm damage throughout Stamford, use caution on the roadways. In our area Upland Road, Sherwood Road, and White Birch Lane are closed.

Fairfield County has definitely taken the brunt of the storm as Norwalk Police report dozens of roads are currently closed due to fallen trees and power lines. Roads are also closed in Fairfield, Stamford, and Darien.

Several Connecticut residents shared video and photos of large hail falling from the sky.
The quick-moving storms also impacted rail service as Metro-North was reporting signficant delays on the New Haven, Danbury and Waterbury branches around 4:30 p.m. But there is good news in that as of 6 p.m. the New Haven Line westbound service has resumed at Rowayton, Darien and Noroton Heights and the New Haven Line service is now operating on or close to schedule.
Also the Waterbury Branch service is now operating on or close to schedule.
Amtrak said Acela Train 2261 is currently operating about 50 minutes late due to earlier signal issue between New Haven (NHV) and Stamford (STM).

CONNECTICUT — The first major thunderstorm to enter Connecticut on Sunday was around 10:45 a.m. as it moved through the Danbury area and it moved east into parts of New Haven County.
And now at 1:30 p.m. a second strong thunderstorm is poised to move through the Danbury metro area once again, which has led to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of Northern Fairfield County until 2:15 p.m. The warning was also extended to the coastline of Fairfield County too.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 2:45 p.m. for southern Fairfield County.
At 2:23 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Fairfield, or near Bridgeport, moving southeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

The NWS says, "At 133 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Lake Carmel, moving south at 40 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is possible. Expect wind damage to trees and power lines.

CONNECTICUT — On Saturday parts of the state saw destructive thunderstorms that brought down trees and power lines and has forced the closure of Sherwood Park in Westport today due to all of the damage there.
And concerns are growing that Connecticut is expected to see even more significant storms Sunday afternoon. As for Saturday's storm-related damage, the National Weather Service reports the following damage: large branches down off Interstate 95 between exits 17 and 18 in Westport, large branches down on Island Lane near the West Haven and Milford border, 60 mph wind gusts at Lighthouse Point in New Haven, and a tree split in half off of Minor Street in New Haven.
As for Sunday, here are the latest weather statements via the National Weather Service:
Southern Connecticut: "An isolated strong to severe thunderstorm is possible this afternoon with a cold frontal passage. The main threats will be strong to damaging wind gusts and small hail."

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 3pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 3pm and 5pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Increasing clouds, with a high near 82. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 11 to 16 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Tonight
A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 7pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. North wind 8 to 14 mph.
Northern Connecticut: "Scattered strong thunderstorms, some of which may become severe, are expected from mid morning through this afternoon. Large hail will be the primary threat, with strong to locally damaging wind gusts a secondary concern. Heavy rainfall may result in localized street flooding."
Today
Showers and thunderstorms likely before 5pm, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Increasing clouds, with a high near 81. Northwest wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. North wind 5 to 8 mph.
