Nearly 5 Pounds Of Fentanyl Seized, 2 Men Arrested: Greenwich Police
Two Massachusetts men were arrested in Greenwich on Thursday after police said they came to town with a large amount of fentanyl.

GREENWICH, CT — Police on Friday announced they arrested two men and seized nearly 5 pounds of fentanyl in Greenwich.
Daniel Alexis, 29, and Omar Mateo, 31, both from Springfield, Mass., were arrested Thursday and charged with sale of more than 1 ounce of fentanyl and conspiracy, police said. They were issued court-set bonds of $250,000, which they could not post. The two are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 20.
On Thursday, the Greenwich Police Department Narcotics Section received information that the two men may have been heading to Greenwich from Massachusetts to sell approximately 2 kilograms of fentanyl at a meeting place in the area of Exit 5 off Interstate-95, police said.

Police set up surveillance and located the vehicle associated with the men, and moved in to make the arrests, police said.
The fentanyl was packaged in two separate blocks, weighing a total of 4.7 pounds, police said, noting that a small sample of the substance was tested, which resulted in a presumptive positive for fentanyl.
