New Afterschool Tutoring Business Proposed In Town: Greenwich P&Z Docs
A pre-application review is being sought for a change of use from a second floor office space to a tutoring space.

GREENWICH, CT — An afterschool tutoring business specializing in mathematics could be coming to Old Greenwich, according to documents on file with the Greenwich Planning and Zoning Department.
A pre-application review is being sought for a change of use from a second floor office space to tutoring space in the LBR-2 Zone at 200 Sound Beach Ave. (AKA 13 Arcadia Road).
A project narrative from property owner OG Real Estate LLC states that Manju Khatri, Praveen Kumar and another teacher would run an afterschool program focused on tutoring with a specialty in pre-algebra, algebra 1 and 2, pre-calculus, trigonometry and AP calculus, calculus 1 and 2, and geometry.

Khatri has over 20 years of experience in teaching math, including the last six as a teacher in Stamford Public Schools, submitted documents note.
Prior to teaching in Stamford, Khatri worked with Greenwich private schools, Greenwich Education Group and Riverside Tutoring.

Kumar would work as a coordinator and help with all administrative activities, submitted documents say.
Khatri would be joined by the second teacher and together they'd teach a maximum of four 7th grade to 12th grade students.
Classes would start at 3:30 p.m. and finish by 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and at times between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, documents note.
The proposed classroom does not include a reception area for parents, as all the square footage is devoted to learning space, so parents would not be permitted to wait for their children in the classroom during group classes.
Parking for eight cars on Arcadia Road, which is also owned by OG Real Estate LLC, is for adjacent retail stores which typically close by 5:30 p.m.
"This area becomes available and reduces any interaction between students at the time of their pickup and times when there may be restaurant traffic," submitted documents say.
Included in the documents is a traffic plan that describes how pick-up and drop-off would work.
All students would be dropped off by their parents or guardians in the parking lot behind 13 Arcadia Road. At pick-up, a teacher will be present until all students have left or been picked up.
No external signage is being proposed, according to submitted plans.
The pre-application review before the Planning & Zoning Commission has yet to be scheduled.
The pre-application process allows for a non-binding discussion with the commission about the pros and cons of a proposal before a substantial investment is made in developing plans, reports and studies.
