GREENWICH, CT — This month, First Congregational Church of Greenwich (FCCOG) welcomed a new staff member, Khaleigh Laicher, who was hired to be the director of FCCOG Church School and Regional Youth Ministry — a new position.

"We searched the country for the very best fit, and are delighted Khaleigh has joined us," said the Rev. Cydney Van Dyke, associate pastor at First Church, in a news release.

Along with being the director of First Church's longstanding Church School, Laicher will be involved with youth ministry focused on working with youth in the community (primarily sixth through 12th grades) to create a fun and inclusive space for young people to build relationships together and explore their faith

"Our first partner of hopefully many in the regional youth ministry endeavor is the Second Congregational Church of Greenwich (2CC) which has teamed up with us to create this youth position from its conception," Van Dyke added in a news release.

Laicher and her wife, Julie, moved to Greenwich from Massachusetts. Originally a Texan native, Laicher brings seven years of experience in churches of various traditions, leading and developing church school programs and youth groups.

"One deep joy I have found in Greenwich is the way youth have been a part of every step of the process: from the creation of the position, to serving on the search committee, and welcoming me here in my first weeks," Laicher said in a news release. "My prayer and hope for this work is to empower youth in their faith and, as the youth feel led, to provide opportunities to live out that faith in service to others."

Some upcoming youth opportunities include apple picking and pie baking, attending the Greenwich High School homecoming football game, a Friendsgiving event, and gingerbread house making. FCCOG's event page can be found here.
