New Bank Coming To Greenwich Avenue

It will be the institution's second bank - but first full-service one - in southwestern Connecticut.

GREENWICH, CT — United Bank, a Hartford-based financial institution, recently received approval from the state Department of Banking to open its first full-service branch in southwestern Connecticut, the bank announced. That new branch will be located at 415 Greenwich Ave., a currently vacant commercial space at the bottom of the Avenue, writes the Greenwich Time.

The institution has a commercial loan branch in Westport - which it opened in 2015 - and a total of more than 50 locations around the state.

"Our Fairfield County commercial banking team has been doing very well since we opened that LPO more than three years ago," said William H.W. Crawford, IV, CEO of United Bank, in a statement. "By establishing a branch in Greenwich, we are directly responding to what our customers have been telling us: they want United Bank to have a greater physical presence in Fairfield County where they can conduct more of their banking activity. This market has great demographics – among the best in the country – so we’re making sure we have lower Fairfield County covered and we look forward to enhancing our commercial, business and retail banking opportunities through this branch in Greenwich."
