New Business: Old Greenwich Fine Wines Opens

There's a new kid on the block of Sound Beach Avenue in Old Greenwich.

After six months of darkened windows, the space adjacent to the Rummage Room and Upper Crust Bagel Shop on Sound Beach Avenue, has been remodeled and is now home to Old Greenwich Fine Wines.

The new owner, Robert Zalkin, has transformed the former AOC Wines space at 195 Sound Beach Ave., into a welcoming and friendly environment. The selection includes all types of wines at varying price points, as well as a full selection of liquor and beer. “We created a one-stop shop and carry a huge selection. If we don’t already have it in stock we’ll special order it for you,” Zalkin said in a statement.

Zalkin says on his website, "In 1999, I moved to Florence, Italy to study food and wine. For six months, I traveled throughout Europe meeting wine makers and learning from the best teachers in the world." He adds, "Since then I have explored dozens of wineries throughout the world. My passion for fine wine made by artisanal producers is tremendous and just like my trip to the Tuscan vineyard I want to share my wine with you. I love exploring and tasting new wines and I offer that experience in my shop." 

So Old Greenwich Fine Wines encourages customers to taste and explore new wines. “We are excited to offer free wine tastings every day and give customers the opportunity to taste eight featured wines every time they come in,” says Manager Rob Petz, an Old Greenwich resident.

In addition to carrying the name brand favorites, Old Greenwich Fine Wines will be introducing new and undiscovered wines, liquors and beer. Each item is hand selected, “it is our job to filter through countless wines and spirits to recommend only the finest bottles at reasonable prices,” Zalkin said.

Old Greenwich Fine Wines offers free delivery and creates free customer wine profiles allowing for customers to “always remember” what they previously purchased. In addition, Old Greenwich Fine Wines encourages customers to designate a charity of their choice. In return, Old Greenwich Fine Wines donates 1% of all their purchases to that charity on the customer’s behalf.
