New Director Of Finance Named For Greenwich Public Schools

Patrick Lai joined the school district in 2023 as a financial analyst and later a budget management director.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools has announced the promotion of Patrick Lai to director of finance.

Lai joined the school district in 2023 as a financial analyst and later a budget management director, and since then, he "has proven to be an amazing asset to not only the business department, but to the entire leadership group district-wide," the school district said in an announcement.

In his new role, Lai will be responsible for the oversight of all financial operations in the school district, including budgeting, accounting, payroll and financial reporting "within the boundaries of the relevant regulations and policies," the school district noted.

Lai will continue to report to Chief Financial and Administrative Officer Ben Branyan.

Before coming to Greenwich, Lai worked at IBM for 28 years, most recently as chief financial officer, IBM Technology Support Services.

He holds a bachelor's degree in finance from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a master's in business administration from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
