Under the draft ordinance, which will be reviewed by an assistant town attorney and Representative Town Meeting subcommittees, Greenwich would phase-in a ban of single-use checkout bags over six months, and retailers would charge $0.25 for a paper bag when shoppers don't bring their own bag.

Retailers would keep the quarter, according to the publication. No exact date has been determined for when a proposed ordinance might come up for an RTM vote in Greenwich.
