New-Look Alpen Pantry Reopens In Old Greenwich

The popular sandwich spot on Arcadia Road went under new management in October, and closed for renovations.

GREENWICH, CT — The new-look Alpen Pantry has reopened in Old Greenwich after two months of renovations.

The popular sandwich destination at 23 Arcadia Road went under new management in October. Drew Nemetz and his wife Frannie Willsey bought the business from longtime owner Gary Kelley.

"The renovations took a little longer than we thought, but we're really happy with the final result and we think everyone's going to be really excited to see the new space," Willey said.

Renovations included brightening up the space, improving the aesthetics and bringing in new furnishings.

Despite the new look, patrons can expect the same great tasting menu items.

Favorites include the Stilton sandwich: ham, swiss, turkey breast, lettuce, tomato, and tasty blue cheese dressing served on Russian black bread; the Gobbler: turkey breast, lettuce, tomato and unique Russian dressing on black bread or a hard roll; or the Rondele: turkey breast with garlic and herb cheese served on black bread with lettuce.

But people can find new items in a refreshed pantry section to take home and enjoy. There is a creatively curated selection of gourmet foods, including hot sauces, pickles, jams, and pantry staples like olive oil and handmade pastas.

"The old Alpen Pantry years back had a full pantry section and we decided to really revamp this and bring it back to life," Willsey said. "Everything that we stocked, we tried to find from small businesses. They're unique and interesting brands that you can't find at a Whole Foods or Amazon. They're really different, fun, local, small batch items."

Alpen Pantry's reopening comes just in time for the holidays, Willsey said. Gift certificates are available, as are gift baskets.

Alpen Pantry's business hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
