New Policy Forbids Town Employees From Wearing Sandals: Report

Under the new policy, most Greenwich town employees can no longer wear flip-flops or slide sandals at work.

GREENWICH, CT — The town of Greenwich has instituted a new policy regarding footwear safety that restricts town employees from wearing flip-flops or slide sandals to work, the Greenwich Time reported. According to the new policy, employees are asked to wear "safe footwear suitable for their work."

According to the Greenwich Time, the policy has been in the works for a while but was finalized in April and became effective June 1. The policy does not apply to staff at town-run camps, town lifeguards or swim instructors at the town's beaches and municipal pool.
