New York Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Greenwich Victim: PD

The incident allegedly occurred on June 24, according to Greenwich police.

GREENWICH, CT — A 37-year-old Staten Island, NY man has been arrested by Greenwich police in connection with an alleged sexual assault that occurred in town on June 24, according to authorities.

Details surrounding the circumstances of the incident were not disclosed. The extensive investigation was handled by the department's Special Victims Section, which obtained a warrant for Gionni M. Scaltro.

Scaltro was apprehended in New York on July 26 and extradited to Connecticut on Aug. 7.

He was charged with:

  • First-degree sexual assault (2 counts)
  • Second-degree threatening
  • Unlawful restraint
  • Breach of peace

Scaltro was released after posting bond on bail of $75,000 and was scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday.
