Numerous Road Closures Reported In Greenwich, Police Say

Strong winds and heavy rain impacted the region Wednesday into Thursday. Greenwich Public Schools is operating under a two-hour delay.

GREENWICH, CT — Strong winds and heavy rain moved through the region Wednesday into Thursday, causing numerous road closures in Greenwich.

The Eversource power outage map also shows 306 customers in town without power as of 7:30 a.m. Overall, more than 6,500 Connecticut residents are waking up without power Thursday morning.

The Greenwich Police Department has posted a list of impacted roads as of 7:15 a.m. The majority of roads that are fully closed are due to trees and wires down. Flooding has also been reported, as well as debris partially blocking some roadways.

"ToG Crews and Eversource have been notified of several trees on wires and are in the process of clearing and cleaning up roadways," police said on Facebook. "Please be careful this morning with the debris in roadways. Please do not drive around or through any barricades."

Greenwich Public Schools is operating under a two-hour delay to allow more time for crews to clear the roads.
