NY Woman Busted for Hoagland's Heist

A New York State woman has been arrested on robbery-related charges stemming from a shoplifting incident involving thousands of dollars of merchandise from Hoagland's of Greenwich.

The woman - identified as Shelly A. Santos, 43, of 712 Homestead AVe., Maybrook, NY - waived extradition and was charged Oct. 6 by Greenwich Police who obtained an arrest warrant. Santos is charged with 1st-degree larceny, 3rd-degree robbery and conspiracy in connection with the May 27, 2011 incident at the home fashion and decorating store on Greenwich Avenue.

A second suspect, Danielle N. Pereira, 21, of 195 Plains Rd., Walden, NY, was arrested on a conspiracy charge the day of the incident.

Greenwich Police credited alert store employees who saw the pair and called police. A witness saw one of the women flee the store and was able to provide police with a description of the car and its license plate number.

Santos posted a $25,000 bond and was scheduled to appear Oct. 14 in state Superior Court in Stamford. Pereira previously was released on a promise to appear in court.
