Obituary: Alfred J. Ferraro, 75, Of Riverside

Alfred J. Ferraro Jr. passed away on Dec. 5, 2023 surrounded by his loving daughters in his home in Riverside, Conn. He was born on Feb. 27, 1948 in Greenwich, Conn., to Alfred and Santa and had two brothers, Joseph and William.

Al graduated Greenwich High School in 1966. He later graduated from Air Force Air University and Westchester Community College.

Al was a proud veteran who served four years in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1972 and fought in the Vietnam War.

After his service, Al started his own general contracting company in 1972 and remained in business for 51 years. He was a hard-working man and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle and spending time at Tod’s Point beach.

He was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather as well as a loyal friend to many who knew him. He was known as “Slip” to his friends and “Gramps” to his four grandchildren. Al touched the lives of countless people, but he will be fondly remembered most for his devotion to his family.

Al is survived by his daughters, Alyssa, Lindsay and Lauren, and his grandchildren, Nicky, Lia, Lilly and Luke. He was predeceased by his wife, Irene.

Visitation will be held Dec. 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Castiglione Funeral Home, 544 Old Post Road 3, Greenwich, Conn. A funeral Mass will be held Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Ave., Riverside, Conn. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 399 North St., Greenwich, Conn.
