Obituary: Gloria R. Ferber, 99, Of Greenwich

Gloria will be dearly missed by all who knew her reminiscing about her wonderful stories of the past.

Gloria Richard Ferber 99, of Greenwich, passed away peacefully at Danbury Regional Hospice on October 26, 2023. She was the wife of George Ferber.

She was born on July 6, 1924, in Mamaroneck, NY. She graduated from Rye High School and worked as a Secretary in New York City. In the 60’s she was Secretary to the Principal of the old Greenwich High School and worked in the library of the new Greenwich High School where she enjoyed working with the teenagers for over 30 years.

George and Gloria traveled across the United States twice exploring its beauty in their Van. She traveled overseas to France, England, Ireland, Spain, and Greece.

Gloria was an avid golfer and won many trophies as a woman Archer. She loved reading a good book, was an expert seamstress and quilter, making creative Christmas items for the family! She adored all her cats over the years, especially her Siamese named “Spooky.”

She loved going to the Greenwich Senior Center visiting her friends. She was an independent woman who was driving her Camry into her 90’s.

Gloria enjoyed her summers in the Adirondacks, winters in Palmetto, Florida and spending time on the beaches of Greenwich. But most of all, enjoyed the comfort, peace and quiet of her home on Weaver Street for over 70 years.

She was of petite stature but wasn’t afraid to voice her opinion. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her reminiscing about her wonderful stories of the past.

Gloria is predeceased by her parents, Lionel and Milvena Richard, her brother Donald and husband George.

The family is grateful for the care and compassion of all the staff at Danbury Regional Hospice.

A private funeral will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich on November 1st. Arrangements will be conducted by Fred D. Knapp Funeral Home.
