Obituary: Irving 'Tom' Smith, 100, Longtime Coach At Central Middle School

Surrounded by his family, Irving Thomas "Tom" Smith, age 100, passed away on November 3rd, 2022. Also lovingly known as Coach Smith to many, Tom taught and coached in the Greenwich Community for over 40 years. Most notably, Tom coached at Central Middle School from 1958 - 1986.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Yvonne (nee Niess); his children, Michelle Meth and Suzanne Guerin; his four grandchildren, Danielle Kneppers, Jacqueline Meth, and Jack and Madeleine Guerin; one great-grandson, Jonah; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 10th from 5-8 pm at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, CT.
