Paula Lorraine Brencher Jensen of Greenwich, CT passed away Dec. 27th due to complications from a fall at age 92. The daughter of Paul “Ed” and Vera Brencher, Paula was born in Norwalk, CT on Feb. 28, 1931 and grew up in the Noroton Heights section of Darien, one of three children. Paula attended Darien Schools and graduated from the Greenwich Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. While in nursing school, she met her future husband, Robert C. (Bob) Jensen. They married in May 1954 and settled in Greenwich, raising two sons, Robert W. (Bob) & Jay Brooks.
Paula was part of the Greenwich Hospital family, working as both a nurse and volunteer for over 50 years. She was happiest spending most of her career in the Maternity Department. Paula also worked part-time as a nurse at Byram Beach and Greenwich Point and also as an assistant for Dr. Richard D. O’Leary. Volunteering was a very important part of family life. Paula and her husband were early members of the Greenwich Red Cross Disaster Unit. After retiring, Paula continued to volunteer with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Noroton Presbyterian Church, and the First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich. She loved cutting vegetables for the soup kitchens and watching NY Yankee games. Even during the Covid pandemic, Paula wished she could be out doing more to help others.
