Obituary: Rodolfo 'Rudy' Rodriguez, 73, Longtime Greenwich Resident

Rudy's biggest passion was giving back to the less fortunate.

Born in Girardot, Colombia, he was the son of Luis Carlos Rodriguez Lozano and Lolita Sanchez Rodriguez. He was a graduate of Norwalk Community College and continued his education by attending the University of Connecticut, receiving various program certificates.

Rudy’s biggest passion was giving back to the less fortunate. He was a tremendous humanitarian who spearheaded, Open Hearts Open Doors Inc, a 501(c)3 organization helping children with medical needs from all over the world. Due to his overwhelming work in the community, he was recognized by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) as one of the recipients of the Outstanding Alumni Award. He was also the recipient of the Jefferson Award in 2006, presented to him in Washington, D.C. for Public and Community Service. Along with these achievements he was a successful entrepreneur who built, “The Good Guys” limousine driving service.

He is survived by his daughters, Nicolle Rodriguez Lugo and husband Jason Lugo, Karla Rodriguez-Alicea and husband Joshua Alicea and Trystan Rodriguez. His pride and joy, grandchildren, Sebastian Campbell-Alicea, Luca Alicea, Giovani Alicea, Jaxon Lugo and Oliva Lugo. He is predeceased by his siblings, Eduardo Rodriguez, Orlando Rodriguez, Amparo Rodriguez, Maria Esperanza Sanchez and Julie Sanchez.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours Thursday, June 8th from 4:00-8:00pm at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, CT 06830. Funeral Service to be celebrated on Friday, June 9th at 10:00am, held at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Ave, Riverside, CT 06878.

While Rudy left us far too soon, the impact he had on our community will be felt for years to come. His daughters, Karla, Nicolle and Trystan, plan to continue his legacy in his name.
