Officers Save Motorcyclist's Life After Crash: Greenwich Police
The quick actions of responding police officers saved a motorcyclist's life after a crash in Greenwich, according to police.

GREENWICH, CT — The quick actions of responding officers, following a crash in Greenwich on Monday, saved a motorcyclist's life, according to police.
Around 2 p.m., officers received a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and a car on Lake Avenue, at its intersection with Rock Ridge Drive. Officers responded to the area and found the motorcyclist, a 31-year-old New York resident, had sustained "serious life-threatening injuries," police said in a post on the department's Facebook page Thursday. "Officers immediately administered first aid, including applying a tourniquet to the subject's leg to control bleeding," police said. "He was then rushed to a local trauma center, where it was learned that the officers' quick actions saved the life of the motorcyclist."

According to police, the motorcyclist was riding a 2019 Suzuki RGSX north on Lake Avenue. He was traveling in the southbound lane, passing several cars, when he collided with a 2019 Land Rover that was turning left onto Rock Ridge Lane, police said.

The driver of the Range Rover, a 50-year-old Greenwich resident, was not injured, according to police. On Tuesday, Lt. Mark Zuccerella said no charges had been specified at this time.
"Greenwich police are the designated first responders for the town of Greenwich," police said. "Officers receive extensive training in emergency first aid, and most have obtained EMT or higher certifications."
