Opening Night: The 18th Annual 'Art To The Avenue'
The work of 120+ artists will be on display for the Greenwich Arts Council's outdoor art festival, starting Thursday night.
The weather Thursday night will provide a perfect meteorological backdrop for the Greenwich Arts Council’s opening of ‘Art to the Avenue.’
This is the 18th year the council will be turning Greenwich Avenue into an open air art gallery with the works of 120 artists on view in the windows of and in the stores of dozens of businesses in the downtown business district.
The opening will feature receptions hosted by at least 50 businesses along Greenwich Avenue, from the intersection of East and West Putnam avenues, to Railroad Avenue and most side streets in between. Businesses hosting receptions will have balloons outside their storefronts.

The art selected by the retailers will remain on view through Memorial Day, so viewers can experience the “gallery” that downtown Greenwich becomes, according to the arts council.
All the art on display is for sale, and a 30 percent tax deduction for the purchaser benefits the GAC.
