Over 100 Retailers Participating In 2019 Greenwich Sidewalk Sale

GREENWICH, CT — Hundreds of shoppers are expected to flock to Greenwich Avenue this week for one of the most anticipated local shopping extravaganzas of the year. The 2019 Greenwich Sidewalk Sale takes place Thursday, July 11 through Sunday, July 14 on Greenwich Avenue and nearby streets in the downtown area.

This rain or shine event is the largest outdoor sales event in the state, according to the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce website. Over 110 retail stores, as well as local restaurants and businesses, will offer savings and values on clothing, jewelry, accessories, gifts and more.

As shoppers head out to take advantage of the bargains, police warn travelers to expect delays when moving through the area.

"This annual event draws large crowds of shoppers and traffic," police said on Facebook. "Delays should be expected while driving through the downtown business district. Greenwich Police will have additional officers in uniform and in plain cloths working to keep traffic moving and maintain public safety."

The Chamber of Commerce reminds attending residents to plan ahead and bring plenty of quarters for parking. They also encourage dressing in loose clothing and comfortable shoes, and not to forget sunglasses and sunblock.

They also remind residents that shopping at the sidewalk sale supports local businesses.
