Over $4,000 Worth Of Merchandise Stolen From Greenwich Store: PD
Police said two men were arrested following a brief foot pursuit.

GREENWICH, CT — Two men accused of stealing over $4,000 worth of merchandise from a Greenwich store were arrested Sunday, according to police. Around 1:30 p.m., officers noticed a vehicle with four occupants driving along Greenwich Avenue, where they exited the vehicle and walked into a nearby business, police said.
Shortly after, officers saw the same group run out of the store with baskets full of merchandise, police said. The group led officers on a foot pursuit but were eventually arrested a short distance away, police said.
"The vehicle attempted to leave the scene after being told to stop by an officer," police said in a statement. "It was stopped by a marked unit a short distance away on Greenwich Avenue after backing up unsafely and traveling through a stop sign without stopping."

Altogether, the items stolen were worth $4,808.08, according to police.
According to the Greenwich Time, police said two juveniles were also arrested in connection with the theft, however their names were not released due to their age.

Police said Antoine Whitney, 28, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was the driver of the vehicle. A small amount of marijuana was found in the accused's vehicle, along with very strong magnets typically used by shoplifters to "defeat security tags" at stores, police said.
He was charged with third-degree larceny, illegal possession of a shoplifting device, interfering with an officer/resisting arrest, organized retail theft, failure to obey stop sign and unsafe backing.
