Here are some of the best local eateries that accommodate children with ample food selections intended to please young taste buds.

My Favorite Place (1 Strickland Rd., Cos Cob; 203-869-1500): Chef Jennifer Scaglione-Morris brings cozy, family-friendly comfort food to the heart of Cos Cob with her super-fun restaurant. Adults will enjoy hearty burgers and “munchies” while children can choose from a variety of cool-sounding foods (like “pups in a blanket” or the “baby burger”) from the 1-2-3 Kids menu.

Thataway Cafe (409 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich; 203-622-0947): On a lovely spring or summer weekend day, the local favorite brunch spot is teeming with families and loud “screamin’ meemies,” according to one recent customer. All will love the outdoor seating for warm-weather days, while kids under 10 will enjoy a special American-food menu, which includes chicken tenders and fries, mac n’ cheese and bowtie pasta (all kid entrees include a bowl of ice cream).

Glory Days Diner (69 E. Putnam Ave., Greenwich; 203-661-9067): Dubbed "a longtime Greenwich favorite for locals and families,"this 24-hour diner serves up everything under the sun, from wraps and apps to burgers, salads and breakfast items. Kid-friendly fare includes chocolate-chip pancakes and chicken fingers.

Cosi (129 W. Putnam Ave., Greenwich; 203-861-2373): Lunch for four can get a little pricey, so if you’re looking for a quick meal that doesn’t taste like fast food, this sandwich-and-salad chain is your best bet. For a regular meal, try the yummy, light flatbread pizza or the “gooey grilled cheese” on the kids menu. The tableside S’mores – served with a real tabletop fire pit, plus chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows -- are perfect for a special occasion.

Boxcar Cantina (44 Old Field Point Rd., Greenwich; 203-661-4774): Parents who chow down on Southwestern cuisine haven will love the fresh, organic fare here. Young ones will enjoy the special ‘Kid Taco’ entrée, which features two small crispy tacos filled with organic grilled chicken and cheese, or Boxcar’s organic chicken basket with organic hand-cut fries.
