Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Crash On I-95: State Police

The accident occurred on I-95 southbound just south of exit 5 in Greenwich around 1 a.m. Saturday, according to police.

GREENWICH, CT — A 50-year-old Port Chester, N.Y. man was seriously injured in a crash on I-95 in Greenwich around 1 a.m. Saturday, according to the Connecticut State Police. The accident is under investigation.

A Toyota with four occupants was disabled in the right lane on I-95 southbound, south of the exit 5 off-ramp, when police said a Nissan Altima, driven by Gonzalo Penaloza-Brito, collided with the Toyota. No injuries were reported in that collision.

After Penaloza-Brito got out of his car to check on the driver of the Toyota, police said, a Hyundai Elantra driven by Johnny Garner, 37, of Norwalk, hit him.

Penaloza-Brito was conscious and breathing, but suffered head injuries and severe trauma to his right leg, police said. Penaloza-Brito was taken to Stamford Hospital by Greenwich Emergency Medical Services. No other injuries were reported, police said.
