Pet Pantry Warehouse Opens in Scarsdale, New York

Grand Opening Event Scheduled for Saturday, March 17, Featuring Canine "Ribbon Chewing" By Adopt-A-Dog Adoptable Pets

The Pet Pantry Warehouse announces the opening of their 6th location in Scarsdale, New York. There will be a grand opening celebration Saturday, March 17th at 10:00 am at 737 White Plains Rd., Scarsdale, NY 10583. Instead of a traditional ribbon cutting for the Scarsdale grand opening, adoptable dogs from Adopt-A-Dog will be designated “ribbon chewers” as they make their way through a string of sausages draped across the opening of the store. Ten percent of the pre-tax sales at this new location throughout the weekend will be donated to various pet charities. In addition, there will be activities for kids, free gift giveaways, and a wonderful sampling from our “Bone Bar” with Barktenders on hand serving up some delicious treats for your furry friends. Additionally, there will be special retail discounts available only in the Scarsdale location throughout the weekend.

The growing trend of pet owners wanting to promote healthy and happier lives for their pets is behind the company’s growing success. As owner Adam Jacobson explains, “As a family owned and operated local community-based business we love nothing more than servicing the needs of pet parents and their furry family members in wonderful tight-knit communities such as Scarsdale, New York. This new store location in Scarsdale enables us to reach new clients in other surrounding communities that our current stores were not servicing. We are very grateful to our existing client base for supporting us for over 70 years and we hope to earn the trust and loyalty of our new customers in our Scarsdale location.”

Another wonderful feature available to Pet Pantry’s Scarsdale customers is a self-service pet wash. Jacobson said, “The pet wash is intended to be a convenience to clients, but will also be ideal as a fundraising opportunity for local schools, animal adoption agencies, and other worthy local causes.” The Pet Pantry Warehouse places a great emphasis on addressing the individual health and dietary needs for each and every pet. “Today, pets are seen as an important member of the family, and just as the health, fitness, and safety for human family members are a priority, the same holds true for our four-legged family members.”

More About Pet Pantry Warehouse
The history of the Pet Pantry Warehouse began in 1945 with World War II Army Air Forces servicemen, Mort Davis and Jac Cohen. The pair formed their alliance over a British puppy adopted by Davis while stationed in wartime England. After accomplishing a stateside transfer for the lucky pup, the two remained friends, joining forces in the pet food business. Davis passed away in the late ‘60s, but Cohen soldiered on with their enterprise through 1995, when the business was purchased by Barry Jacobson and his sons Adam and Ari, who run the business today. When the business was re-conceived in 1995, the large warehouse space which was home to the original Pet Pantry was converted into a more modern shopping experience and a new business model was born. The success of the reformatted Greenwich location paved the way for additional locations in Rye, NY in 2006, Larchmont, NY, in 2011. The fourth location in New Canaan, CT, opened in late 2013 along with another store in neighboring Wilton, CT. The options for a convenient local shopping experience continue to grow with stores in Riverside, CT and the newest store in Scarsdale, NY. As a local, family run business we understand the importance of giving back to the communities in which we operate. Over the years we have been extremely active in support of local and surrounding communities we serve by donating hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of money, goods, and services. In addition to the support we give to Adopt-A-Dog, Cat Assistance, Greyhound Rescue, The Good Dog Foundation, Stray’s and Others, as well as Pet Rescue; We regularly give back to local schools, local religious institutions, local charities, and others. We also provide donations to local Police, Fire, & Ambulatory services, as well as local sports teams.
