Peter and Bea later settled in Greenwich, where they lived for 42 years

Crumbine served for five terms as a Republican member of Greenwich’s Board of Selectmen from 1999 to 2009 and was also a member of the Representative Town Meeting from 1992 to 1995 and the Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation from 1996 to 1999.

After his time as a selectman, Crumbine, an avid swimmer and athlete, continued to give back through his own volunteer work, and by serving on the Selectman’s Nominations Advisory Committee he made sure other volunteers like him were able to participate on the town's boards, commissions and committees.

Peter and Bea were both awarded with the David N. Theis Award for outstanding service to the community by the Glenville Volunteer Fire Department in 2019 for their decades of work in town.

Following the news of Crumbine's passing, Camillo told Patch that Crumbine leaves a legacy of love and devoted service to Greenwich.

"I have met many fine people in my life, and certainly many during my tenure in public service for the past three decades, but no one ever as selfless and respected as Peter Crumbine. Peter was what we would call a 'happy warrior.' He loved to debate, was a committed Republican, and as principled as anyone, yet did so in a dignified and respectful manner that drew praise and admiration from all who knew him," Camillo said. "Together with his beloved Bea, the unofficial ambassador of Greenwich, Peter will leave a legacy of love and devoted service to Greenwich. We will miss him, but we will never forget him."

The Greenwich Republican Party posted on Facebook about Crumbine.

"Peter's unwavering dedication and commitment to the Republican Party will never be forgotten, and his passing is a tremendous loss," a Facebook post said. "We extend our sincere condolences to Peter's family and friends during this difficult time. May he rest in peace."

According to Crumbine's obituary, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
