A pipeline replacement project scheduled to begin next week near the Greenwich-Stamford town line may cause some traffic delays.
GREENWICH/STAMFORD, CT — A pipeline replacement project near the Greenwich-Stamford town line is scheduled to begin on May 26. The project will start on Taconic Road in Greenwich, followed by Farms Road in Stamford, according to a statement from the Aquarion Water Company.
Work is expected to be completed by November, the company said. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
The project, which will replace an existing 20-inch raw water pipeline between Bargh Reservoir Dam in Stamford and the Rockwood Lake watershed in Greenwich, is part of an ongoing program to improve Aquarion's water supply system, the company said. The infrastructure upgrades will also help to reduce leaks and improve the transfer of water from the Bargh Reservoir to Rockwood Reservoir.

Due to construction, residents should expect minor traffic delays and possible detours between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. while work is going on. The company said it will "work closely with town officials and its contractor to coordinate work and minimize any impact" on Greenwich and Stamford residents.

Message boards will be installed at both ends of the work zone on Taconic Road to alert the public of construction activities. A. Vitti Excavators, LLC of Stamford is serving as the contractor for the project.
Weekly project updates, such as construction status, work schedules and traffic information, including detours, will be posted on Aquarion's website.
