Police Investigation Launched Into Threat At Greenwich School
The handwritten message was discovered Wednesday afternoon.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich police are investigating a report of a threatening message found at Western Middle School Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities.
The message was handwritten, and police declined to describe its content, but Lt. John Slusarz said Thursday that based on a preliminary investigation there was "no imminent threat to the school or community."
"The necessary action was taken" once the message was discovered, according to Slusarz, who added that it was "premature to talk about the details." The police department and school district have worked extensively in the years since the Columbine High School shooting in Littleton, Colorado, to "develop strategies to identify and prevent" such tragedies, he added.

"The protocols worked," said Slusarz, declining to elaborate further on the investigation.
Both the Greenwich Time and Greenwich Free Press reported about the threat, mentioning an email sent to parents from Western Middle School Principal Gordon Beinstein, which stressed that the incident was being addressed by all proper officials. The message mentioned that a weapon might be brought to a school in the future.
