Popular Bakery-Café To Open Greenwich Location

GREENWICH, CT — Kneads Bakery Café has signed a lease to open its third location at Greenwich Crossing, The Ashforth Company’s $30 million redevelopment of the train station and surrounding retail area.

The bakery and café will occupy approximately 2,000 square feet of street-front retail space along Railroad Avenue and an additional 200 square feet on the second floor inside the train station. Both spaces are expected to open in late spring 2027.

Owned by chef Daniel Moreno and his wife, Brittany, Kneads uses an in-house stone mill to grind 100 percent organic whole grain flour daily for its breads and pastries. The café’s menu also includes breakfast items, lunch sandwiches, soups, salads and Irving Farm coffee.

The station location will offer brewed coffee beverages made with Irving Farm beans, freshly ground daily, along with grab-and-go offerings for commuters.

Kneads opened its original café in Westport in 2020 and is opening its second location on Fairfield’s Post Road in October.

"Greenwich Crossing is exactly the kind of walkable, community-focused setting we look for, and having a presence both on Railroad Avenue and inside the train station lets us reach commuters, neighbors and visitors throughout the day."

The Greenwich Crossing redevelopment is nearing completion. It includes a fully modernized train station, a 5,000-square-foot anchor restaurant with outdoor seating, renovated retail storefronts, a new Steamboat Road staircase, landscaping and street trees, and replaced sidewalks, curbing and pedestrian pathways from Arch Street to Steamboat Road.

"Kneads is an excellent addition to Greenwich Crossing as we near completion of the redevelopment," added Ashforth President and CEO Ryan Harvey. "Their two locations will bring an active, welcoming presence to both Railroad Avenue and the train station, further strengthening the connection between the station, Greenwich Avenue and the surrounding community."

Joyce Storm of Storm Partners, LLC is Ashforth’s leasing consultant, and renovations will be completed by A.P. Construction.
