Preliminary Results For Greenwich Republican Town Committee Primaries

Greenwich Republicans hit the polls in several districts on Tuesday.

GREENWICH, CT — Primaries for several Republican Town Committee seats were held Tuesday in Greenwich.

Caucuses were held in January, but primaries were forced against winners in Districts 2, 4, 5, 8 and 9 — a representation of recent infighting between RTC leadership, referred to as the "new guard," and candidates backed by First Selectman Fred Camillo and others, the "old guard."

The two groups traded barbs on social media in recent months.

RTC leadership could not flip seats in Districts 4, 5 and 9, according to unofficial results, as candidates endorsed by Camillo and others maintained seats and performed well in District 2.

The Greenwich Registrars of Voters' live vote tracker noted 1,771 people hit the polls Tuesday out of 4,742 eligible voters, good for a turnout rate of 37.3 percent.

There will be mandatory recounts in Districts 2 and 8 due to the close votes, the registrars said.

The Greenwich RTC notably endorses candidates to be nominees for municipal elections and state office.
