Probe Launched Into Damaged U.S. Postal Boxes In Greenwich: PD

Whether mail was taken was not immediately known.

GREENWICH, CT — Two blue United States Post Office drop off mailboxes were found damaged in Greenwich early Thursday, prompting the police department to issue a warning to residents.

One of the boxes is located on Arcadia Road in Old Greenwich, and the other is at an undisclosed location in Cos Cob. The extent of the damage also was not disclosed.

"It is unknown at this time if any mail has been taken," stated Greenwich police. "The US Postal Service will be handling the investigation."

Added Greenwich Police Lt. John Slusarz, "It's always good to monitor your bank accounts and to make sure people are receiving the mail you sent to them. This time of year especially, because more people are sending holiday cards, some with checks and gift cards."
