GREENWICH, CT — The recount for the 36th State Senate District race between Republican incumbent Ryan Fazio and Democratic challenger Trevor Crow will continue this week in Stamford and New Canaan. The district covers all of Greenwich and portions of Stamford and New Canaan.

Greenwich completed its recount of roughly 25,000 votes last Thursday, and there was a change of 10 votes, First Selectman Fred Camillo said in an update Friday.

On the night of the election, according to the Connecticut Secretary of State website, Fazio unofficially led Crow by just 98 votes. In Greenwich, he led 12,928 to 12,463.

Following the recount in Greenwich, the numbers changed to 12,936 for Fazio, and 12,461 for Crow, the Greenwich Time reported.

"Recording the intent of 25,000 individuals will always have small errors. Not because of the equipment, but because voters fail to follow the instructions to, for example, completely fill in the oval," Camillo said Friday night in his weekly community newsletter.

"Even with those human errors, we are glad to report that in recounting the votes, there was a change of 10 votes out of over 25,000 cast. That is a change of three-hundredths of one percent, or .03 percent. If you know a poll worker, please thank them and be confident that the votes of citizens in Greenwich are recorded accurately, time and again," Camillo added.

New Canaan will hold a recount on Monday at town hall beginning at 10 a.m., and Stamford will hold its recount Wednesday, Greenwich Time said.
