Remarkable Run For Greenwich Native In 2018 Boston Marathon
George Crist, 20, currently a second-year cadet at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, was among the top finishers.

GREENWICH, CT — In only his second marathon, 20-year-old Greenwich native George Crist did something few people will ever accomplish, placing among the first 100 finishers in the recently completed 2018 Boston Marathon.
Currently a second-year cadet at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, Crist finished 82nd overall with a time of 2 hours, 37 minutes and 6 seconds, and was one of only two 20-year-old runners to finish in the top 100.
His goal was to finish in the top 100, with a pace of under 6 minutes per mile. The feat is even more remarkable considering the cold, rainy, blustery conditions where wind gusts exceeded 40 miles per hour.

Boston was his second marathon, his first was the Colorado Marathon last year in Boulder where he finished in second place. Despite the rough conditions this month, his Boston time was better than the Colorado time, which was 2:38:41.
Crist is a 2016 graduate of Fairfield Prep, where he captained the Cross Country team. But his running dates back to his days at North Street and Central Middle schools in Greenwich, along with time the Greenwich Track Club.
