Renovations Proposed For Greenwich Private School Buildings, According To P&Z Docs
An enrollment increase request is also being made in connection with the renovations for the school's early childhood education program.
GREENWICH, CT — Several buildings at Brunswick School's Lake Avenue campus are proposed to be renovated, along with a request to expand enrollment for the school's early childhood education program, according to recently submitted documents to the Greenwich Planning & Zoning Commission.
Buildings 7, 8, 9 and 10 at 270 Lake Ave. are proposed to be renovated for early childhood education purposes, William Haslun noted in submitted documents. As a result, there is a request to increase enrollment for the program from 150 to 194 students - still well below the 450 student enrollment cap.
In May 2023, the Planning & Zoning Commission permitted student enrollment of 150 students in the early childhood education program and designated certain buildings for that use, and other buildings for faculty apartments, Haslun explained.

The decision was modified in February 2024 and again in May 2025, such that buildings 7, 8, 9 and 10 would be designated for "educational purposes only," though they were not immediately put into use.
The renovation and enrollment requests are being made due to the "proven success" of the school's early childhood education program, Haslun said.

The added enrollment would require an addition of 12 full-time staff and three part-time staff. Existing parking will be able to accommodate the increase, Haslun noted.
Additionally, "the impact on traffic will be minimal."
The pre-application is expected to go before the Greenwich Planning & Zoning Commission in the coming weeks.
The pre-application process allows for a non-binding discussion with the commission about the pros and cons of a proposal before a substantial investment is made in developing plans, reports and studies.
