Residents Urged To Take Caution During Storm: First Selectman Camillo
A flood watch has been issued for the Greenwich area for Sunday evening through Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

GREENWICH, CT — A flood watch has been issued for the Greenwich area for Sunday evening through Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service, and First Selectman Fred Camillo is urging residents to take caution.
Camillo was part of a Zoom call on Sunday afternoon on the weather forecast along with Emergency Management Director Joe Laucella, Greenwich Police Chief James Heavey and others, including state officials, a news release from the town said.
The weather forecast for Sunday night calls for rain, heavy at times, with wind gusts as high as 38 mph, the National Weather Service said.

Localized flash flooding is possible and there is a potential for some areas of the state, depending on how rain cells form, to potentially receive upwards of five inches of rain, a news release from the town said.
Camillo and Laucella are encouraging Greenwich residents to take steps to prepare to protect their homes from any possible flooding.

The Greenwich Department of Public Works and Parks and Recreation teams are in the process of delivering sand and bags to Pemberwick Park. The materials, which were expected to be ready by 4 p.m., will be available for Greenwich residents who may need the supplies to help protect their property.
Due to the forecasted high winds, falling trees or limbs may bring down electrical wires and cause localized power outages throughout the night. Residents are reminded not to approach, touch or drive over any utility lines on the ground or in the roadway.
Residents are also reminded not to drive through large pools of standing or moving water in the roadways.
Eversource has activated their emergency response plans and has told the town of Greenwich that more than 100 crews are on call and ready to respond as needed around the state.
The Greenwich Emergency Management team will be monitoring the storm throughout the evening to help address any incidents that may occur due to the approaching storm, the town said.
