Riverside Man Remembered As 'The Best Husband And Father'
Scott J. Harrington, 59, of Riverside, died on Aug. 3. He worked for J.P. Morgan, and was a youth football coach in town.
GREENWICH, CT — Among his many accomplishments, Scott J. Harrington, of Riverside, is being remembered as "the best husband and father you could ever imagine," according to his obituary.
Harrington, 59, died on Aug. 3 after he was hit by a train near the Cos Cob station.
Harrington was born and raised in Massachusetts, and graduated from Boston College where he played football and was the captain of the 1985 Cotton Bowl team, his obituary said.

"Scott's love of sports set the foundation for giving back to the Greenwich community," his obituary said.
After coaching his two sons in football, Harrington ended up coaching most of the young football players in Old Greenwich and Riverside, his obituary said.

Over the last 15 years, Harrington coached with the Putnam Generals, and his coaching style "embodied a quick wit and a passion for teaching kids to do things the right way," according to his obituary.
Harrington served as a board member for the Greenwich Old Timers Athletic Association. The group posted about Harrington's death on Facebook.
"Scott was a tireless advocate for youth sports, volunteering countless hours on our board and coaching for the GYFL Putnam Generals football team. He will be greatly missed by the Old Timers, as he was a true friend to us and role model for the many players he coached," the Facebook post said. "We are humbled by the Harrington family’s choice of the Old Timers as the recipient of memorial donations. These contributions will continue Scott’s legacy of helping student athletes achieve their dreams."
Professionally, Harrington worked on Wall Street and rose through the ranks of J.P. Morgan, eventually running North American Institutional Equities, his obituary said.
Harrigton took great pride in following his sons' athletic careers, his obituary said, and he loved his wife Kathy.
Funeral services for Harrington were scheduled for Tuesday morning. Memorial donations can be sent to the Greenwich Old Timers Association here.
