The project aims to enhance stormwater management infrastructure and improve drainage in the area to address flooding.

GREENWICH, CT — A road closure is set to go into effect on Monday, Nov. 2, for the Valleywood drainage project, according to First Selectman Fred Camillo.

The Board of Selectmen considered and approved plans for the temporary closure during its Sept. 24 meeting.

The drainage improvement project will take place in the area of Valleywood Road, Old Post Road No. 6, and East Putnam Avenue.

A temporary road closure will be in place in the eastbound lane of Old Post Road No. 6 between Stanwich Road and Valleywood Road. The closure, which will be in place 24/7, is expected to last two weeks.

The Greenwich Department of Public Works said the project is part of ongoing efforts to enhance stormwater management infrastructure and improve drainage in the area, which will help address flooding.

"While we know it will be a temporary inconvenience, it will benefit this part of town," Camillo said in his weekly newsletter to the community on Friday.

The project began earlier in October and was expected to take about two months. The work schedule is dependent on the weather.

Drivers through that area should allow for extra travel time and proceed with caution.
