The Greenwich Tree Division is expected to request the closures during the July 13 Board of Selectmen meeting.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Tree Division is slated to request two temporary road closures in town to facilitate tree removal work, according to the agenda for Thursday's Board of Selectmen meeting.
The road closures would take place on Guinea Road and Sheephill Road on July 19 and July 20 respectively, the description for the request details.
There are numerous dead trees in the area of the 20 block of Guinea Road that need to be removed, the request states.

The work order was given to a private contractor, but when the contractor went to do the work, a police officer told them they needed the road shut down because it's too narrow.
Guinea Road can be closed at Stanwich and also at Juniper Hill, the request says. Traffic would be detoured through Tod Lane.

Over in the 200 block of Sheephill Road there is a large dead elm tree with a 46-inch diameter that spans over several properties, power lines and both lanes of traffic, the closure request says.
The road must be closed in order to safely remove the tree and meanuever the power lines. The road can be closed at Palmer Hill and at Old Orchard.
Traffic can be routed through Old Orchard, the request says. The closure would be "minimally inconvenient to the traveling public."
Thursday's Board of Selectmen meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. from Town Hall. It will be broadcast via Zoom.
